The Colombian literary classic, written by José Eustasio Rivera, premiered on HBO Max on July 24.

THE VORTEX’, the series inspired by one of the most iconic works of Colombian literature, is now available across Latin America on HBO Max. This 8-episode series tells the story of Arturo Cova, an idealistic poet, and Alicia, a free-spirited young woman who escapes an arranged marriage. Together, they embark on a journey through the plains and jungles of Colombia in search of a promised land—a dream that soon becomes a nightmare.

Inspired by the novel of the same name by José Eustasio Rivera, the series will be released in stages: three episodes debut on July 24, followed by three more the next week, and the final two on August 7. With impeccable direction and writing, and a stellar cast, the production brings to life a visually stunning tale of love, untamed nature, and human conflict that continues to resonate powerfully today.

The premiere was celebrated with a red-carpet event and cocktail party in Bogotá, bringing together the cast, creative team, industry partners, media, and celebrities. This event marked the official launch of a bold storytelling venture aimed at connecting new audiences with a Colombian literary classic, now reimagined for the screen with a captivating and contemporary aesthetic.

Directed by Luis Alberto Restrepo, the series features a stellar cast led by Juan Pablo Urrego as Arturo Cova, Viviana Serna as Alicia, and Nelson Camayo as Clemente Silva, alongside Marlon Moreno, Majida Issa, Nicole Santamaría, Diego Vásquez, and Carlos Vergara, among other acclaimed actors.

THE VORTEX is executive produced by Jorge López Abella, Rous Mary Muñoz, and José Lombana. This audiovisual reinterpretation breathes new life into a story that remains as relevant as it is moving. The series is now available on HBO Max and will also air on TNT with weekly episodes starting Saturday, July 26 at 10:00 p.m. (Colombian Hour)
