HBO has released the highly anticipated first trailer and official images for WAR, its new anthology legal drama series. The high-stakes drama will premiere on HBO Max on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with new episodes debuting weekly.
Set in the exclusive and cutthroat world of London’s legal elite, the eight-episode first season of WAR follows the clash between two of the city’s most prestigious law firms: Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne. The two firms go to war when they take on the divorce case of the century: the scandalous separation between tech mogul Morgan Henderson, played by Dominic West (The Wire, The Crown), and his wife, renowned international movie star Carla Duval, played by Sienna Miller (Anatomy of a Scandal, American Sniper).
Amid a web of greed, betrayal and ruthless corporate maneuvering, the legal battle threatens to destroy both of their reputations in the corridors of the courts and London’s most exclusive law offices. The series also stars Archie Renaux as ambitious young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren, alongside Phoebe Fox, James McArdle, Nina Sosanya and Pip Torrens.
WAR is a co-production between New Pictures (a Banijay company) and Observatory Pictures, in association with Sky and HBO. The series was created, written and executive produced by George Kay, alongside executive producers Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford for New Pictures; and Susan Breen, Ben Taylor, Andrea Dewsbury and Megan Spanjian for Sky. Ben Taylor serves as lead director, and Laurie Borg is the series producer.
Thanks to its bold approach, the project has had a two-season commitment from HBO and Sky since its inception, ensuring that following this explosive divorce case, the anthology will continue to explore new and compelling legal battles in future installments.
The second season has already added talent including Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood.
