HBO Max announces the new trailer and poster for the documentary series SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH PEDRO ANDRADE, premiering on October 21, with new episodes airing every Tuesday. Produced by Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra, the Emmy Award–winning creators behind BRUTAL PACT: THE MURDER OF DANIELLA PEREZ, the story explores how different situations and cultures influence family structures, while also sharing journalist Pedro Andrade’s personal experience with fatherhood.

Together with his husband Benjamin Thigpen, Pedro fulfilled the dream of building a family. The series follows the couple’s journey through every stage of this new chapter — from the fertilization process to the pregnancy that brought Isabel into the world through surrogacy. In addition to showcasing their daughter’s first year of life, the production captures emotional experiences and encounters with parents from different countries.

The trailer reflects the couple’s emotional journey. Through heartfelt scenes, it portrays the many forms of family around the world that are strengthened by love and care, raising questions that redefine the very concept of “family.” The narrative also explores key themes of parenting across cultures, featuring families from Italy, China, Japan, and the United States.

Through a vibrant and personal narrative, Pedro redefines what “familiar” means as he travels the world to discover new family dynamics — while sharing his own.

SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR WITH PEDRO ANDRADE is a documentary series co-produced by Warner Bros. Discovery and Producing Partners. The series is directed by Tatiana Issa and Gustavo Nasr, and produced by Emmy winners Tatiana Issa and Guto Barra, who also serve as artistic supervisors. Presented by Pedro Andrade, the series is overseen by Sergio Nakasone, Adriana Cechetti, and Marina Pedral from Warner Bros. Discovery.
