Miami, FL – December 3, 2014 - HBO Latin America announces the premiere of its first original documentary in the region, Before we are Forgotten, on December 8th at 22:00hrs on HBO.

In 2006, the president of Mexico, Felipe Calderón declared war on drug trafficking. Since then, violence has spread like wildfire throughout the country. An estimated 121,000 people have been killed because of these violent crimes, and thousands of others have been kidnapped, disappeared or forced into exile.

Before we are Forgotten, directed by Matías Guilbert, is a real-life documentary that tells the story of the war that has raged in Mexico since 2006 between President Calderón and the country’s drug barons. The story is told through the opinions and experiences of several well-known Mexican sociologists, writers, artists, journalists and politicians including: writer, Paco I. Taibo II; journalists, Marcela Turati and Jacobo Zabludovsky; actor, Demián Bichir and singer Jorge Hernández (Los Tigres del Norte), among others who have been witnesses to some of the most violent times the country has faced. Through their testimonies, the documentary gives us a glimpse into the gravest wound that Mexico has ever suffered.

Before we are Forgotten was created under the executive production of Luis F. Peraza, Roberto Ríos and Paul Drago, on behalf of HBO Latin America Originals; and under the executive production of Sebastián Gamba, Julián Rousso and Matías Guilbert, on behalf of the production house, Anima Films.
