From the theatre to your home: the superhero movie starring Jared Leto is now available on the platform
Starring renowned Oscar® winning actor Jared Leto, the feature film MORBIUS has just arrived on HBO Max. Now, all fans of the most ambivalent character in the world of superheroes will be able to watch his story anywhere at anytime. The film's cast also brings together Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson, with a production faithful to the world of the comics.
To mark the arrival of the feature film to the platform, we have selected four interesting facts about MORBIUS’ production that you need to know:
All the inspiration for the movie's fight scenes came from the comics. Stunt coordinator Gary Powell analyzed both the comics and the character's physical strength and backstory. Greg Townley, one of the greatest acrobats in the world, was chosen to be Jared Leto's stunt double and, in order to create some sequences, the production also observed images of bats and how they attack each other.
Production designer Stefania Cella was inspired by the settings aboard ships to create the scenery. The production even filmed chase scenes on real boats, as Morbius' New York is not Fifth Avenue.
The character's story is also told through its locations. We start in Greece, which is beautiful, sunny, pleasant and romantic. Then, we enter the white and sterile lab. And as Morbius transforms, so does the film's appearance - it becomes grayer - we see darker places, alleyways and nights.
Jared Leto accepted the starring role in the film because he is attracted to roles where there is an opportunity for transformation, not only physical, but mental and emotional. From his Oscar®-winning performance as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club to his portrayal of Paolo Gucci in House of Gucci, Leto disappears into his roles, bringing the characters to life in ways that can be moving, terrifying or enigmatic, but always unforgettable.
Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa and produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Lucas Foster. Written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the action-packed film has moved straight from the theater to your home and is now available on HBO Max.
