MIAMI, FL, September 13th, 2012 – The female inmates of Capadocia will return to HBO for the last time on September 23rd, and just as in previous seasons, the battle for power and justice will be focus of the plot. The first episode will be available on www.hbomax.tv shortly after the television premiere. In this new and final season, the cast will include renowned actors such as Gabriela de la Garza, Ernesto Gómez Cruz, Patricio Castillo, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Damián Alcázar, and Oscar® nominee Adriana Barraza.
“In this third season, the series returns with a lot more intensity. It promises viewers that they will experience the suspense and drama along with the inmates of Capadocia in each and every episode,” commented Luis F. Peraza, Executive Vice President of Original Productions for HBO LAG.
At the end of the second season, Teresa Lagos (Dolores Heredia) managed to escape from Capadocia after faking her own death, while Federico Márquez (Juan Manuel Bernal) took control of the ECSO.
This sets the stage for the third season to begin, where everything will come full circle, and where corruption and ambition for power will clash against the ideals of justice. Two opposing forces will emerge: on one side, La Cofradía (The Brotherhood), a sinister group headed by Ángel Lazcano (Patricio Castillo) and several powerful members of the elite; and on the other side, the group headed by Fernando Miranda (Ernesto Gómez Cruz), who will fight for the freedom and safety of all those affected by La Cofradía, including the inmates of Capadocia.
Many relavant characters will return this season, such as Valeria Molina (Cecilia Suárez), La Negra (Aída López), Santiago Marín (Marco Treviño) and Lorena Guerra (Ana de la Reguera).
Consisting of 13, hour-long episodes, the series was directed by Pitipol Ybarra, Carlos Carrera, Javier Patrón Fox and Moisés Ortiz Urquidi. HBO Latin America Originals was responsible for the executive production and general supervision. The Mexican production company, Argos, was responsible for executing the project.
The first season of Capadocia was nominated at the International Emmy® Awards in the following categories: Best Drama Series, Best Performance by an Actress - Cecilia Suárez, and Best Performance by an Actor - Oscar Olivares. Additionally, in 2008, it received a Golden Nymph at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival for Outstanding International Producer for a Drama TV Series and a Reflet d’Or (Golden Reflection) at the Tous Ecrans Cinema Festival in Geneva, Switzerland for Best International TV Series. In 2009, it received recognition by The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) for Outstanding Spanish-Language Drama Series.
