The closing chapter of this story—defined by magical realism, tradition, and emotions that burn bright—premieres February 15 on HBO Max.

Ahead of the premiere of the final season of LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE, HBO Original produced by Ventanarosa Productions, the cast and creative team gathered for a global press conference to share exclusive insights into this highly anticipated conclusion. The first episode will debut Sunday, February 15 on HBO Max and HBO.

Hosted by Luz María Zetina, renowned for her career in entertainment, the session offered an intimate and revealing conversation about the creative process and the evolution of the narrative in this final stage. Cast members in attendance included Irene Azuela, Azul Guaita, Andrea Chaparro, Andrés Baida, Francisco Angelini, Louis David Horné, and Julián de Tavira, director of the season.

Julián de Tavira, the director, emphasized the creative significance of this moment for the team: “Reaching the final season represented an enormous creative challenge, but also an opportunity to conclude the story with honesty, respect, and emotion. Every creative decision was made to remain faithful to the spirit of the novel, while also engaging with the present. The cast was essential in bringing soul to this story; their commitment elevated every scene.”

This presentation marked one of the most significant milestones leading to the finale of a series that has captivated audiences with its blend of magical realism, deep emotions, and powerful family bonds.

Irene Azuela and Azul Guaita shared how the project profoundly transformed them on a personal level:

“I close this season with the desire to feel even more. I carry immense gratitude for the character and for the people I deeply admire, realizing how significantly women have evolved over the past decades,” said Irene Azuela.

“Tita is a character filled with love, and I continue to feel her very close to me. I will carry her with me forever, and I hope that when audiences watch the series, they too can feel it—like a mother’s embrace,” added Azul Guaita.

A production shaped by emotion and magical realism

The cast and creative team reflected the narrative, emotional, and visual challenges of this last chapter. The season picks up immediately after the previous ending, delving into personal conflicts, the power of memory, and the culinary symbols that have shaped the show’s unique aesthetic.

Fire, tradition, desire, and family emerge as central elements driving the evolution of the story, heightening the dramatic tension and emotional pulse of its conclusion. The cast also experienced this complexity firsthand. Andrea Chaparro reflected on her intimate process: “I came to understand Gertrudis in a deeply empathetic and personal way. I connected with her silences and her courage, and that is what I carry with me.”

For Andrés Baida, this season marked a unique emotional journey: “The final season was profoundly intense for me; as an actor, it took me to very deep and honest places. Closing this project was as emotional as living it, because it is a story that will stay with me forever.”

Francisco Angelini added: “Thinking about what my character meant brings many emotions, a kind of anemoia—that feeling of longing for something never lived—especially with Doctor Brown, such a pure character. It’s an emotion that carries lessons and a connection I never imagined.”

Louis David Horné concluded: “More than a farewell, for me this final season is a celebration of the story, its characters, and the cultural impact it has had. I feel the ending honors the legacy of the work and leaves a profound emotional mark on those who watch it. It is a conclusion that invites us to feel, to remember, and to revisit the story from a different, more intimate and conscious place.”
